Italian citizenship in Argentina: Jure sanguinis
Jure sanguinis ("right of blood") is how Italy recognizes citizenship by descent. Since Law 74/2025, anyone born outside Italy who holds another citizenship must meet one of the law's exceptions.
What you need to know
Your Italian ancestor must not have naturalized in another country before their child in your line was born
Law 74/2025 applies both to consular applications (consulate or comune) and to court cases
One of its exceptions: your father, mother, grandfather or grandmother holds, or held at death, only Italian citizenship
Your minor children don't get it automatically: it takes a declaration and meeting certain conditions
