What you need to know
Your Italian ancestor's birth record, requested from the comune where they were born
Proof of whether and when your ancestor naturalized in another country (a naturalization record or a no-record certificate)
Birth, marriage and death records for every generation in the line
A Hague apostille on every foreign document, plus an Italian translation
Your valid ID or passport
Mainly: your Italian ancestor's birth record from the comune where they were born, proof that they did not become Brazilian before their child was born, and the birth, marriage and death records for the whole line. Brazilian records are apostilled at a cartório and translated into Italian.
